The Flames finished 2013/14 in style with a nice submissive loss to the Canucks in Vancouver.
Of course since both teams suck, the storyline for the night was that Sister Daniel Sedin was taken to the hospital after a hit into the boards from NHL giant Paul Byron. Byron is listed as 5’7? and 153 lbs. I know it’s horrible to say after someone leaves the ice on a stretcher, but the hit was clean. It was an unfortunate accident. Byron will not be suspended and that’s the NHL saying as such.
The other story of the night was that the Flames signed someone even smaller than Byron, Johnny Gaudreau. Johnny Hockey is 5’9″ and 150 lbs. So I guess by training camp he’ll be bigger than Byron. Poor Paul Byron.
Well here’s to the end of the first season of the rebuild, although I think we all know it’s year 4 of the I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-a-rebuild. Enjoy the playoffs Flames fans, I hope you have another team to root for.
