Maple Leafs 4, Flames 2

31 Oct

The Flames played a pretty good game. They had 35 shots (20  in the second period alone), they carried the play, dictated the pace, and had a few standout performances from guys like Russel, Colborne, Stajan and Brodie. However Bernier what the first star of the game and held Toronto in the game for 55 minutes. Kari Rammo? Well, he let in a couple softies and gave the win to Toronto and the hoards of fair-weather Leaf fans at the game.

“I felt that we had a good game,” Flames coach Bob Hartley said. “We are not very pleased with the result, but I don’t know what we could have done more. Offensively we generated a lot. Our forechecking was good. Our puck decisions in the offensive zone were very good, but Bernier basically stole the game away from us.”

Interestingly enough, Mikael Backlund was a healthy scratch.

Well, at least we’re back on track to finish near the bottom of the standings, rather than 10th in the West again.

Feel bad for Backlund. He looked so good at the start of last year, then got hurt for a long time … and still waiting for him to get back in form.

And I can’t believe you did a whole post without making fun of Dion. Congrats!
