The Flames must have been happy to be home, they came out flying in the first period with 17 shots and three goals. They chased Brendan Holtby after 15 minutes.
The second period slowed down quiet a bit, and this game was awfully reminiscent of the season open in Washington when Calgary blew a three goal lead to let the Caps back in the game.
However the third period was all Flames, and they were able to do what they couldn’t do earlier this year – hold on to a lead. With the exception of Derek Smith (who looked really slow) Calgary played a good team game against some pretty talented individuals. And teams beat individuals every time.
