The Flames once again fell behind by 2 goals, and had to fight back into this one. And they did, I’ve got to give them credit for that. But in a second game of back-to-back road games you’re certainly not doing yourself any favours by giving up two.
I hate to put the blame on Joey MacDonald, but he seemed really out of position for most of this game. Here are some pics from last night, and these are different goals.
So the Flames are now 1-3 on this road trip. Which I guess is where you’d expect them to be after a trip to California and Arizona. But for all the hype around how well this team is doing they are only one point above .500, good for eleventh in the West.
The big story of today (Wednesday) is that the Flames have to make the decision on Sean Monahan. The media keep saying that he stays, but I just can’t see it. It’s not that he doesn’t deserve to stay – because he does – it’s because you have to look at what’s best for the organization. And a 19-year-old Monahan on an entry level contract is worth more to the Calgary Flames than a 19-year-old sophomore Monahan and more wins in 2014 than you wanted.
Because… if Connor McDavid is as good as Sportsnet says he is, then you don’t want to meaningless-win your way out of a franchise player.
