The dream is over.
Gone are the Flames’ point streak, Monahan’s goal and point streak, and the Stanley Cup parade plans.
However, this was a pretty good game. Calgary played a team they haven’t been able to win against in Anaheim in a decade, a team that is playing really well right now, and out-played them for 45 mins. The only problem is the first 15 mins of the game that they were outplayed and outscored 2-0.
I’d much rather watch games like that though, and have them lose. Then watch them jump out to a 3-0 lead and protect it for 40 minutes. At least this game had some drama. Capped off with a 43-year-old scoring the game winning goal on a breakaway.
When it came down to it, Joey’s .864 save percentage couldn’t compare to Fasth’s .943 – who was by far the best Duck on the ice.
