Well that was a pretty exciting loss I must say.
Joey MacDonald played great. In case you haven’t seen it, he probably made the save of the year.
The Canucks had tied the game at 3-3 by the time Chris Higgins found a gaping net and the puck on his stick at 8:40 of the third period. But MacDonald made a ridiculous stop with his stick to preserve the tie.
Vancouver scored later in the frame, but David Jones tied it for the Flames with 19 seconds left in the game. Mike Santorelli scored the overtime winner for the Canucks, but MacDonald’s superb evening should not go unnoticed.
What I also noticed was Glencross and his horrible giveaway to blow the 3-1 lead. But I’m trying to stay positive here.
So the positive is that Monahan scored again; and T.J. Galiardi, Lance Bouma and Ben Street all played beyond their expectations. It’ll be super-exciting hockey for the first 9 games, then reality will start to set in.
