Oilers 3 – Flames 1

21 Mar

I’ve been away the past few days, so I’m going to have to cheat a bit. From NHL.com:

The Oilers put a dent in Calgary’s postseason hopes on Friday night as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored twice in a 3-1 victory at Rexall Place. Jordan Eberle scored the other goal and assisted on both of the tallies by Nugent-Hopkins as the Oilers won their second in a row.

“It was huge for us to win this game,” said Nugent-Hopkins, the first player taken in last June’s NHL Draft. “It’s as close to a playoff game as we are going to have this year. It was a lot of fun playing in a game like that. There was so much intensity and emotion out there.”

Have the Flames hit a wall? I guess we’ll know over the next few games.

I’ve got respect for Detroit since it was where gtares like Gordie Howe and Stevie Y. played but Vancouver > Detroit when it comes to being a hockey town. Canucks fans stay up til 1am on a WEDNESDAY because the game isn’t over yet the Canucks are always front page on our newspapers during the playoffs regardless of what’s going on. Ask any player in the NHL which building is the loudest.
