Flames 3 – Canucks 1

24 Dec

I don’t think I need to explain how big a win in Vancouver is for Calgary. This was the Flames’ first regulation win against Vancouver in 13 games, ending a 10-0-2 run by the Canucks. It was Irving’s first NHL win, who had to survive 17 shots by Vancouver in the third. This win also kept streaks alive for Glencross and Jokinen, who are starting to look like the players we always expected them to be.

Since I’m going to be a way for a while, I may not be able to post after games. Or update the line combinations as people come back from injury. So I’ve taken the liberty of posting what will happen in each game beforehand. You’re welcome.

Tue, 27 Dec 2011 Flames Blue Jackets Flames win 5-4. Flames win 3 in a row for the first time this year. Remain within 2 points of eighth.
Thu, 29 Dec 2011 Flames Islanders Flames lose 2-0. Alex Tanguay returns from injury, it doesn’t help. Confidence gets too high, and the Flames forget they need to play tough to win.
Fri, 30 Dec 2011 Flames Senators Flames lose 4-1. Embarrassed against the Sens, and the Flames loose Glencross to injury. Leland Irving’s first NHL regulation loss.
Sun, 1 Jan 2012 Flames Predators Flames lose 2-1 (SO). Mark Giordano returns from injury, he responds with a goal, but Kipper can’t stop anyone in the shootout and the Flames lose.
Tue, 3 Jan 2012 Flames Capitals Flames win 3-2. Flames win after losing three straight.
