Blue Jackets 4 – Flames 3 (SO)

02 Dec

All I want for Christmas is a new head coach…

Here is how this game went down. First, we learned that Mark Giordano is out for two weeks. Then we saw the Flames get out-worked in the first, but still emerged out of the period tied with Columbus at 1. In the second the Flames took over, and that continued in the third. With 5 minutes left in the third period, Calgary was ahead 3-1 and it looked like the Flames were going to win their third game in a row for the first time this year.

Then everything sorta fell apart.

The Jackets scored with 4 minutes to go to get within one, and again with less than a minute remaining — with an empty net. Backlund had a shot on the empty net too, but with was stopped by the Columbus d-man. They turn it up ice, score, force OT, then the shootout, then the Flames don’t score once in the shootout. So the Flames went from 3-1 in the third (and Calgary was 9-0 when leading after 2), to losing 4-3 to the worst team in the league.

Iginla’s stock continues to drop the longer Feaster waits. So you can only imagine that Jarome is here to stay. Feaster has time to rebuild, but please Jay… start by rebuilding the coach.
