The storylines of this game were obvious.
- The Flames’ powerplay went 0-7, which included a 5-min major to Nick Johnson of the Wild for a headbutt on Iggy during a fight (see below).
- Minnesota dominated the faceoffs, showing that it actually is important – and not just for colour-guys to talk about – they were 3. 7-20 in favour of the Wild.
- The headbutt itself… was it intentional? was Johnson just trying to not get knocked out? was he just sharing with Jarome the Axe hair effect? You can decide for yourself by watching the video.
Overall, the Flames played pretty well (ex. faceoffs) out-shooting the Wild 41-26, Calgary had 13 shots on the PP alone. Plus Minnesota blocked another 27 shots – 27! That’s compared to Calgary’s 7. Everything pointed to a good game except for the one most important stat – the score.
